When I first attended Summerbridge, I was skeptical because I thought I was not going to make any friends, but that was the complete opposite of what happened. I met a great amount of amazing people, and a whole bunch of new friends, who I am still in contact with to this very day. During my time at Summerbridge, I made sure I did all my homework every day and made sure I was never absent, and eventually I was rewarded for those accomplishments with the Dean’s Award. This award was created for my accomplishments, and was appointed to me at the end of Summer 2011.
Now I attend Freedom High School, where I am a Junior, and part of the World-Renowned Patriot Band, World-Renowned Fife & Drum Corps, Girls’ Soccer Team, BASD’s Mini-THON Committee, Young Republicans Club, and I have 570+ Community Service Hours. For the past two years, Summer 2013 and 2014, I have volunteered at Summerbridge, and this year, Summer of 2014, I was given the position of head volunteer.
Due to my involvement at Summerbridge this past year, I was able to teach a few lessons for teachers who were absent. During my teaching experience, I have grown attached to many of the children in the program and this gives me the feeling that I am giving back to such a great program. For the future, I hope to major in Marine Biology at a university in Florida, and hope to still be involved in the Lehigh Valley Summerbridge community by becoming a teacher at the program. Summerbridge has opened numerous doors for me, and I can not wait to see what this program has in store for the future.
