Open Apps

  • Macs have a row of apps that you can put on the bottom or side of the screen and can hide.

  • Open up system preferences and click on doc to arrange where they appear.

  • Apps that are open are indicated by a small black dot beneath the app.

  • You can quit or hide an app by pressing control and clicking on your mouse

  • You can also tell which app is currently open because its name will appear on the top menu bar.

  • You can close apps from that place as well.

Open Apps

  • Many apps will have a red, yellow, and green button in the top left corner.

  • Red means close out (though even closing out the app does not mean it has been quit entirely)

  • Yellow means minimize - it will put it on the bottom bar next to the trashcan

  • Green means maximize - hitting green will make the app full screen and bump it onto its own full page.

  • You can have several full open pages open at once and you can scroll between all of them easily using the trackpad.

  • You can toggle between full open pages using a three finger swipe right/left or by hitting the F3 key

  • You can adjust scrolling settings in system preferences - trackpad

  • Use all three trackpad sub-category buttons to adjust the way you maneuver around the screen.

  • In full screen, hit escape to minimize the full screen.
