Scaffolding Practice

I have provided each subject area with a scenario.

That scenario includes the student demographic, student prior knowledge, and the thing that students need to know or be able to do by the end of the lesson.

Your job is to create the scaffolding necessary for students to reach the designated outcome.

You can think of this in a large scale (aka days and weeks) or on a smaller scale (an individual lesson).

Break down the outcome like we broke down your unit goals - as an outline, or try it as a tree diagram
  • Terms that need to be defined (the basic building blocks of the idea at hand)

  • Processes that need to be demonstrated

  • Develop/create any charts or handouts to guide students and organize student thinking.

  • What structure will you need to provide during the lesson and homework

Build the lesson together. If it is more than one lesson's worth of content, focus on a single lesson but make note of what needs to come before this lesson itself.

Include:
  • Warm up
  • Instructional procedure - activities
  • Wrap Up
  • Homework assignment
  • Warm up for the following day
